Monastery of Saint Nicolas -
Dobres
Dobresevo is a filed between a forest and the
right bank of river Morava, which belongs to the village Glozane and
is about 1.5 km away from Miljkov Monastery. This field hosts ruins
of a modest stone church. Monastery was active during 1467, 1476/78.
However, it was documented as "abandoned farmland Dobresevo" in
1516. Meanwhile, Turkish encumber documents about Branicevo mention
the existence of a Monastery Saint Nicolas next to Miljkov
Monastery. These documents testify that two monks lived in the
monastery during mid-16th century. They were paying taxes of 424
akces. During Murat III one monk was paying 300 akces in taxes. A road of about 600 meters was the first to be built. Likewise, the construction plan was drawn up and thanks to few benefactors necessary construction material was provided. So the reconstruction started. On the day of Saint Martyr John Vladimir (22/4 of June) Bishop of Branichevo Dr Ignatije (Midic) consecrated the foundation accompanied with monks, clergy, benefactors, local inhabitants and guests.
Plans and whishes are to complete the
restoration of the church until “slava” of St. Nicolas.
